darth maul and savage oppress (Star wars)
This was one of the most fun costumes to work on and modify. Our son was always a fan of the double blade swinging sith. With help from our friend with the initial use of plastic horns for Darth Maul and then sculpting and myself painting the second set to coincide with the Clone Wars and Savage Oppress, we were able to create a pretty authentic looking little sith-in-training.
The outfit itself was bought mostly from a thrift store. The tunic and most of the upper part were constructed and sewn from a karate outfit. The pants were comfortable women's woven cotton, and the boots were also a thrift store find. The gloves were Darth Vader children's costume accessories, and the guantlets were actually "garbage holders" that were suppose to attach to a car's interior. A little additional leather was added for detail, and the finishing was facial paint. Theatre paint works best, but craft latex also works. The outfit was completed with the lightsaber, and depending on the event, sometimes a single blad was used, and other times, out came the double blade! |
